At Future Earth Collective, we know that climate action without gender inclusion is incomplete. Empowering young women with environmental knowledge and practical sustainability skills doesn’t just strengthen their voices—it transforms families, schools, and entire ecosystems.

Why It Matters

Globally, women are disproportionately affected by climate change, especially in developing regions where they manage water, food, and household resources. Yet, their insights are often missing from environmental decision-making tables.

Through Girls in Green, we’re ensuring young women are no longer observers but architects of sustainable change. We teach them the science of climate, the art of leadership, and the courage to step forward as innovators in a green economy. What We Do

1. Mentorship for Tomorrow’s Green Leaders

We connect passionate girls aged 13–21 with mentors—women scientists, engineers, and sustainability advocates—who guide them through personal and professional growth. Through storytelling and mentorship circles, participants gain not only knowledge but also belonging.

2. Skills for a Sustainable Future

Our training programs introduce young women to renewable energy, waste management, eco-entrepreneurship, and sustainable agriculture. Each participant completes a capstone project—like building a solar lantern or designing a school recycling system—that benefits her community.

3. Climate Confidence Workshops

Girls learn how to speak publicly about environmental issues, advocate for policies, and engage their peers. We foster self-belief through storytelling sessions, creative writing, and digital campaigns that amplify youth voices.

4. Community Action Projects

We provide micro-grants and resources for participants to launch green projects—tree planting, waste-to-art exhibitions, clean water initiatives, and school gardens. Each project becomes a ripple of hope across generations.

In Lagos, a 17-year-old named Chika joined the first Girls in Green cohort unsure of her path. Within months, she designed a “Plastic for Power” initiative that turned recycled bottles into solar lamp casings. Her idea won local recognition, and she now mentors younger girls in her community.
